Daily Photo

Today I came across an interesting tweet by Alyssa Milano. She talked about this guy who took a Polaroid everyday for 18 years. I thought how cool! I've always been fascinated with Polaroid cameras. I remember having one as a young girl, taking a picture then waiting as the colors magically appeared to reveal the moment of my life that I chose to freeze in time. The difference between myself and this Polaroid picture taking guy is that he managed to save all of his pictures with the exception of a few that were misplaced or no picture was taken and I don't have even one.
This reminds me of DailyBooth. DailyBooth is a website where you post pictures daily or like some people whenever you want. You must go to their website, create a user name and password and you can upload pictures to your hearts delight! If you have friends, unlike me, they can follow you and are notified when you upload a photo.

I think the Polaroid guy was on to something!

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Since i finished the Twilight Saga in 2009 I have read 2 books. One is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult which was made into a disappointing movie. The second is Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I absolutely love this book. It took me a while to read the first 4 chapters but chapter 5, 6, 7 faster then I couldn't put the little 374 pager down til the end! Suzanne Collins is brilliant! Her writing is perfect, I can hear every word her characters are speaking and thinking too! If I can't hear the characters I can't read it!! I have fallen in love with Peeta Mellark. A gentleman that believes in love at first sound! A boy that would sacrifice his life to protect someone that doesn't trust him and will probably think of killing him in this game. When the game rules change that's when it gets even more exciting! Hence the not being able to put the book down til the end!! My only problem now is that I do not have the second book in the trilogy...I've "tracked" it down and will go in for the "kill" tomorrow after work! Catching Fire promises to be just as irresistible as it's predecessor.

Shutterfly Photo Cards

I got my cute orange package today!! Woohoo.

I was visited by the procrastination bug this season which means I didn't start making my Christmas card until Dec 27th!! Anyway I uploaded and created a photocard on Shutterfly. The process was easy!! The most difficult part was trying to decide which layout to choose out of the hundreds they have available.

With creditcard in hand at 8:13pm on the 27th, I uploaded photos and even personalized my card, input all my information and paid for them. At first I was sad when Shutterfly told me that the estimated time of delivery would be between Jan 3rd and 7th!! I thought...darn it that's so late but then I realized who cares....better late then never!

Flash back to the present time, it is Dec 31 at 10:54am, I hear a knock on my front door. Knock, knock, knock. I open the door and there he is our glorious carrier of letters man with my beautiful orange package!!! Im so excited because it is not even the 3rd yet and my photocards are here right in my hand!

Thank you Shutterfly for your speedy delivery! Thank you United Post Office people for getting my package to me almost as fast as it would take me to run a marathon! I'm so happy and pleased with Shutterfly and the USPS!

Now I'm off to address my envelopes and drop them off at the post office so my friends and family can see how much I love them by sending a beautiful photocard with my picture on it!!!

Have a wonderful day.....

Baby Clothes Bouquet

Last weekend I had to go to a baby shower.  I knew I wanted to make something really cute but I wasn't sure what I should do.  I had already made my sister a wonderful diaper cake so what could I make that would be easy but still very cute.....I made a Bouquet out of baby clothes and blankets.  To my surprise there are many people on the Internet making these types of bouquets.

There may be an easier way to make it but here's what I did:

To make your bouquet you can use:

receiving blankets
onesies
socks
wash cloths
shirts
pants

How big or small you would like your bouquet depends on how many articles of clothing and blankets you have.

Other materials I used is:

rubber bands
floral tape
floral wire
wooden dowels
floral foam
small bucket
few sprigs of fake flowers with leaves
tissue paper
little book

I rolled the blankets and clothes to  resemble flowers, then I put a rubber band on to hold it in shape. Then to attach the "flower" to the stem.  I wrapped the floral wire around the cloth and then wrapped the remaining wire to the wooden dowel.  (The wooden dowel needs to be pushed into the center of the rolled up clothes)  Once the wire is secure take the rubber band off.   You don't have to wrap the dowels with floral tape but I did.  It helped secure the fake leaves under the "flower."

Do that with all the articles of clothing and blankets you have.

Put the floral foam in the bucket and start arranging the wooden dowels to create your bouquet.  Once you are done putting all the dowels in the foam, stuff the bucket with tissue paper, this will help to fill up any empty space.  Then add in the fake flowers to add a little extra to the bouquet.  I also added a little baby book and a small stuffed animal.

I also used a Styrofoam flower that I had in my craft box to make the card, I attached it to the wooden dowel and stuck in the foam.

I wrapped the entire bucket with cellophane and added a cute bow.

This is really basic and with your imagination the possibilities are endless.

Insomnia

It is now 1:21 am and I am wide awake despite the fact that I have to work at 8 am! Insomnia sucks...I really like to sleep. Lately my sleep patterns have been normal...sleep at 11 wake up at 6:30, but tonight is a different story. I even tried reading but here I am still awake.

Today was a good day, I had to teach my 5th and 6th graders at church then Mia had a Tennis match at Waialae Country Club. I think our kids are very polite but those kids were pretty polite too! Mia played a really good match, she lost but she played so good...I'm real proud of her! She was a little disappointed but I told her not to be and to remember this match and try to better herself for the next match.

After the match we met the Coulson's at Alamoana. They were getting their iphone4. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it, I'm about to face time tetchie and mike and I think I like it!!! I was really hoping that I could dance in the Apple store like ijustine but it was too crowded and my youtube partner Ilikea was not with us!!! One day, one day I tell you...I will dance in the apple store.

I'm so happy tomorrow is Monday! You know what that means right? Hawaii Five-O!!! I love that show not just because Alex O'Loughlin but because it's a really good show...NO it's because of Alex!!! He is so dreamy. I hope to get to meet him. Oh I'm gonna watch The Back Up Plan just so I can see him now!!

Oh my am I talking crazy talk? I think I am!

Goodnight from the crazy talking, insomnia suffering, Alex O'Loughlin loving gurl!

USS Bowfin

Today I took the kids to the USS Bowfin.  The USS Bowfin is a fleet attack submarine that fought in the Pacific during WWII.  It was launched December 7th 1942, exactly one year to the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese.  We had a fun day!  I really wanted to take them to see the Arizona Memorial but we got there too late and they had given all the tickets out already.  So the only tour available was to the USS Bowfin.  And what a wonderful surprise.  When we went into the submarine I thought this stinks, literally it stunk...We must have spent an hour touring the sub, taking pictures and talking to a filipino tour guide that was manning the control room.  Her name was Rosalina and she came here from the Phillipines only 4 months ago.  She told us about the control room and about her family...her accent was so heavy all I got from her was that she had so much at home but here she has nothing.  And that all her kids graduated cum laude!   Touring the sub was pretty interesting and the kids had fun.  The USS Bowfin is just one Museum to see on property.  There is the USS Arizona, The USS Bowfin, The Pacific Aviation Museum and one other museum, I'm so sorry that I cant remember!! uugh  I wish we would have gotten there a few hours earlier so we could have seen everything.  Anyway I guess we have an excuse to go back.
